Orchid CD
Orchid CD
On “Orchid,” K.C. brings together powerful vocals that call to mind music’s finest female singers (Patty Griffin, Karen Carpenter, Emmylou Harris, Over the Rhine’s Karin Bergquist), with songs worthy of the top tier of contemporary/roots singer-songwriters (Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin, Nanci Griffith) and the familiar feel of a new generation of smart-pop princesses (Ingrid Michaelson, Sara Bareilles).
The 10-song set is led by the first single, “Broken Things,” and includes the Oklahoma history-inspired “Redman,” the gospel-infused, “Voice of an Angel” and the moving epic, “Story of Our Own,” written for the critically-acclaimed documentary "Finding Hillywood.” The album also features Austin’s BettySoo on background vocals throughout.

“I used to hide behind my songs,” explains Clifford, “always toying with the truth, but never brave enough to lay it all out there. Not anymore. The walls came crashing down and I am laid bare. There’s no hiding on ‘Orchid’.”
